A team of officials from the Kenya Music Festival led by their Executive Secretary Ms. Ruth Agesa on Thursday, May 11, 2017 paid a courtesy call to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Eng. FAO Otieno in his office to discuss the preparedness by MMUST to host the National Kenya Music Festival that is slated for 10th July, 2017 to 20th July, 2017.

Ms. Agesa said that the Kenya Music Festival is impressed by the commitment that MMUST has so far exhibited in ensuring that all the preparations are on course for a successful national event. She noted that this year’s festival will be much bigger as it will incorporate participation of institutions of all levels starting with the Early Child Development (ECD) teams to the universities. Ms. Agesa added that the event will also have international teams from Uganda, South Sudan, Rwanda, Burundi and India.

Prof. Otieno thanked Kenya Music Festival leadership for choosing MMUST to be the host of this year’s festival. He assured the team of the support by all organs of the University.

It was a day of double blessings for MMUST as the Executive Secretary of the National Drama Festival, Mr. Patrick Khaemba, who is also a member of the Kenya Music Festival said that he is impressed by MMUST’s capacity in terms of infrastructure and therefore MMUST will also hold the 2019 National Drama Festivals which will be held in April.

The Executive Secretary of the Kenya Music Festival, Ms. Ruth Agesa announced that they will set up a Recording Studio in MMUST, which will be among the many things that MMUST will benefit from as the host.
