HACKATHON 2018

maxresdefaultHackathon is MMUST's premier technical computer security collective which brings together the individual talents of the Schools  best and brightest security innovations, through live presentations, engaging discussions and hands-on demonstrations

 

THE EVENT DATE AND VENUE: This event took place  between 2nd – 4th February 2018 in SPD 004, MMUST. Hackathons tend to have a specific focus, which can include the programming language used, the operating system, an application, an API, or the subject and the demographic group of the programmers. The event focused on health information systems and simple solutions. 

BACKGROUND: A hackathon (also known as a hack day, hackfest or codefest) is a design sprint-like event in which computer programmers and others involved in software development, including graphic designers, interface designers, project managers, and others, often including subject-matter-experts, collaborate intensively on software projects.


PARTNERS: This was a partnership event between University of Nairobi, School of Computing and Informatics- HealthIT Project, Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology-School of Computing and Informatics, and the County Government of Kakamega-CHMTs.
REWARDS: Projects were assessed by a Team of Researchers from UoN led by Dr. Orwa Dan and Dr. Oboko Robert and staff from MMUST including Dr. Omieno Kelvin and Dr. Otanga Daniel and Mr. Ondulo Jasper.
Other team members included Trainers from HealthIT Project (UoN) and Our Technical team led by Mr. Kadima Victor, Rawlings Mulongo & Nicholas Irungu
