MMUST Academia is warming up to a new book that features a wide range of aspects related to global peace, security and development in the context of the African content. The book titled “Peace, Security and Development in 21st Century Africa-Theory and Practice” has its editors being the three Professors from the MMUST Department of Peace and Conflict Studies in the School of Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance (SDMHA), Prof. Pontian Godfrey Okoth of History and International Relations, Prof. Frank Khachina Matanga of Political Science with interest in Development Politics, and Prof. Kennedy Onkware, a professor of Philosophy. The 757-page book in 28 chapters features 24 main authors, and produced by the Finesse Publishing Limited, Nairobi. In the foreword, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Eng. Fredrick A.O. Otieno says “It is fashionable today to view peace not merely as absence of direct and physical violence, but more importantly as the absence of structural violence characterized by social justice and cohesion”. This new book will be a crucial reference material for academics and research globally, while guiding national and international peace initiatives.
