Robinson Wikana Mukangayi
Mukangayi Robinson Wikana, holds a Diploma in Library Studies (Sigalagala Technical Institute), Bachelor in Library and Information Sciences (Information Systems and Communication Technology) – Kisii University. He is currently pursuing a Masters in Library and Information Science in Andhra University – India and a Master’s of Science in Information Technology in MMUST.
Robinson is a qualified professional librarian with over 14 years of experience in a university library setting dedicated to offering guidance in information retrieval & research strategies, library automation; Citation & Bibliography; Community Outreach Services; Marketing, Supporting reading programs & other adult education activities in the community to promote literacy. He has an extensive understanding of library materials, research databases, circulation procedures, archival dimensions; Extensive knowledge and practical experience in library automation and digitization. Experienced working with and supervising personnel, as well as supporting routine library operations. Research interest areas include; spheres of Library and Information science especially Information technology in Libraries.
He has attended hands on skills training, workshops and conferences not only in Kenya but also internationally in Entebbe, Uganda; Bulawayo, Zimbabwe; Kerala, India and Pretoria, South Africa in Fundamentals of Information Technology, Library Automation, Digital Library Open Access Initiatives, Meta Data Harvesting etc.; Library Automation Practices Using KOHA and WINISIS ; Introduction to Digital Library Software/ development of Digital Library Practices; Development of Web Access data bases /Practical & projects - GENISIS ; Data ware-housing; Data-mining; Knowledge Management Systems – Dspace and Greenstone and Content Management Systems – Drupal and Wordpress
Some of key achievements include; Successful design, installation, implementation and maintenance of the University Digital Repository hosted on http://ir-library.mmust.ac.ke which is the University’s digital service that collects, preserves, and distributes digital material by the University in 2016; Successful design, installation, implementation and maintenance of the University Library Integrated Library System - Koha hosted on http://koha.mmust.ac.ke ; Successful design, installation, implementation and maintenance of the University Library off-campus access platform - Ezproxy hosted on http://koha.mmust.ac.ke:2048 and the Successful design, installation, implementation and maintenance of Turkana University College Library Integrated Library System - Koha hosted on http://197.248.117.226.
