genFrida Wairimu Munyi,an undergraduate student pursuing Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology in the Department of Biological Sciences(School of Natural Sciences -MMUST) on Industrial Attachment at the Kenya Animal Genetics Resource Centre(KAGRC) Nairobi county) under the mentorship of Lillian Kuchikhi and Geoffry Tom Mogaka (from KAGRC) and Dr Phillip Ogutu (MMUST) in June 2021 and Dr.M.W Ochieno (MMUST) in July 2021.

“During my attachment at KAGRC -Nairobi i successfully learnt the process of cryopresevation of bull semen and the various animal breeds.In cryopreservation I successfully learnt on the process of germplasm collection by use of artificial vaginas and the processing of the collected germplasm including bull semen evaluation, dilution by use of an extender,straws used for packaging,stabilization,filling and sealing of straws as well as the freezing process by use of Liquid nitrogen.Also learnt on Liquid nitrogen production as well as the advantages of using liquid nitrogen as a form of storage."
