petroKawanga Linda Akoth, an undergraduate student pursuing Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science in the Department of Biological Sciences (School of Natural Sciences-MMUST) on Industrial Attachment at the Ministry of petroleum and Mining (Kakamega County) under the mentorship of the Inspector of mines Mr Jacob Mutua and Madam Sandra Khatiebi(MMUST), in June 2021.

“During my attachment in the Ministry of petroleum and mining, I successfully learnt the various methods of mining used by the artisanal miners, the various environmental issues that are posed to the environment and their ways of handling these issues and the ways in which National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) addresses the environmental issues that are caused by miners.”
