Simmy Caleb Samburu, an undergraduate student pursuing Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science in the Department of Biological Sciences (School of Natural Sciences-MMUST) on Industrial Attachment at the Kakamega County Water and Sanitation Company (KACWASCO) under the mentorship of the Waste Water Supervisor Mr. Amos Wanjala, the Geographic Information System (GIS) Officer, Mr. John Ogoti, and Prof. William A. Shivoga (Professor of Aquatic Ecology-MMUST) in June 2021.

“During my attachment at KACWASCO, I successfully learnt how to do screening at the sewer ponds, general cleaning of sewer ponds, man holes, unblocking of sewer lines under the Waste Water section. In the GIS department I learnt Georeferencing, digitizing, map development, determination of unknown water accounts using GPS coordinates and recording of new cordinates for installation of new water meters."
