Shaban Ndomo - Industrial Attachment at the Kenya Veterinary Vaccine Production Institute, Nairobi County

kavevapiShaban Ndomo, an undergraduate student pursuing Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology in the Department of Biological Sciences (School of Natural Sciences-MMUST) on Industrial Attachment at the Kenya Veterinary Vaccine Production Institute (KEVEVAPI-Nairobi County-Embakasi) under the mentorship of Mr. Hul Wanani and Dr. Dennis M.W. Ochieno (MMUST), in June 2021.

“During my attachment in KEVEVAPI-NAIROBI, I successfully learnt the processes of vaccine production starting from media preparation, culturing, seeding and passaging of cells, and viral infection used in Production of FMD vaccine. I also gained skills on Hemocytometry, and learnt different types of tests i.e sterility test of different samples, plaque assay test, ELISA test used in identifying strength and identity of serotypes FMD virus, Serum Neutralization Test/Viral Neutralization Test, for testing antibody production once cattle injected with FMD vaccine."
