Julius Sila - Industrial Attachment at the Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI) - Coast Eco-Region Research Programme

kefriJulius sila, an undergraduate student pursuing Bachelor of Science in Natural Resource Management in the Department of Biological Sciences (School of Natural Sciences-MMUST) on Industrial Attachment at the Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI) - Coast Eco-Region Research Programme (CERRP) under the mentorship of the Research Scientists Dr. Stanley Nadir and Ms. Gladys Rutto, and Dr. Dennis Omaiyo (MMUST), in June 2021.

“During my Industrial Attachment at the Kenya Forestry Research Institute - Coast Eco-Region Research Programme, I successfully learnt how to perform soil analysis using both flame photometer and light photometer. I learnt how to draft scientific research reports and reviews. I gained Geographic Information System (GIS) skills especially in remote sensing while mapping mangroves rehabilitated areas for research. I also learnt data collection and data analysis using both SPSS and Microsoft Excel as well as calculation of Shannon diversity using Excel,”
