Ann Muthoni, an undergraduate student pursuing Bachelor of Science in Biohemistry in the Department of Biological Sciences (School of Natural Sciences-MMUST) on Industrial Attachment at the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO), Food Crops Research Center at Njoro in Nakuru County under the mentorship of Molecular Genetist Mr. Cyrus Kimani and Mr Nicholas Kitungulu (MMUST), in June 2021.
“During my attachment I learnt how to diagnose different plant diseases, together with the extraction of DNA from virus-infected plants. I also got to learn value addition of different food types and how to test for aflatoxin levels in maize. The laboratories are well-equipped to offer good training for students”.
