Jacqueline Mbinya, an undergraduate student pursuing Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology in the Department of Biological Sciences (School of Natural Sciences-MMUST) on Industrial Attachment at the Kenya Agricultural Livestock Research Organization, Veterinary Science Research Institute, TRC Alupe Busia under the mentorship of the chief lab technologist, Mr. Samuel Imailuk and entomologist student coordinator, Mr. Godfrey Emase and MMUST supervisors, Dr. Mario Kollenberg and Prof John Muoma  in May 2021.

“During my attachment in KALRO VSRI TRC ALUPE BUSIA, I successfully learnt the processes of phlebotomy (venous blood collection), microbiology (bacterial susceptibility test) I also gained knowledge on tsetse fly identification and dissection to check for the presence of tryapanosomes which are responsible in causing sleeping sickness in humans and nagana in animals.
