Ashuma Anekeya Amos, is an undergraduate student pursuing Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry in the Department of Biological Sciences (School of Natural Sciences-MMUST) on Industrial Attachment at the Government Chemist Department Kisumu laboratories under the mentorship of the government analyst Polycarp Lutta Kweyu and Dr. Henry Lungayia (MMUST), in July 2021.

“During my attachment in the Government Chemist  Department Kisumu laboratories,I successfully gained relevant skills and techniques in use of UV-VIS Spectrophotometer, genetic analyzer, analysed different parameters on  foods and drugs( Aflatoxin count and moisture content analysis on food and drinks) carried postmortem toxicology analysis ( extraction of drugs and poisonous chemical that causes death and it's identification  using a UV-VIS Spectrophotometer and thin layer chromatography) water analysis: analysed physio-chemical tests on water, biological and chemical oxygen demand on effluents: bacteriological (total coliform an e coli count of water and effluents, prepared stock solution; EDTA, phosphorus and nitrogen) DNA section. I did paternity and maternity tests, DNA extraction purification amplification and analysing on the genetic analyzer of different cases of crime which include murder, rape/defilement and assault. In the ciminalistics section and learnt how to use digital alcohol meter in measuring of alcohol content and distillation of the traditional brews. '
