Levina Pepela - Industrial Attachment at Water Resources Authority, Nakuru County,

Levina Pepela, an Undergraduate student pursuing Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science in the School of Natural Resources (SONAS-MMUST) on Industrial Attachment at Water Resources Authority, Nakuru County, under the mentorship of Ms. Tabitha, Mr. Mwai, Mr. Njungo, Ms. Regina, Mr. Kimeto and Mr. Kitungulu (MMUST), in June 2021.

“During my industrial attachment, I had the opportunity to learn about water parametets tested in the laboratory and how they are tested. I also learnt about the various epuipment that measure the parameters and about groundwater, where I learnt on hydrogeological reports and the difference geophysical methods for hydrogeological assessment; borehole drilling and how water permiting is done to clients as well as how a borehole is drilled, the equipment used and the conditions that are necessary before drilling is done; how water levels and water flow are measured in a river using a current meter; how to use a dumpy level; the various subcatchments number together with the subcatchments of various subregions; how a certificate for water quality is made according to the WHO and KEBS standards; water conservation hence accounting for every drop; how rainfall data is collected and registered,” he said.
