MMUST SET TO HOST SECOND ‘DIES’ NATIONAL MULTIPLICATION TRAINING IN KENYA

 The workshop is jointly organized by Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST), Kibabii University, Moi University coordinated by DAAD, with an aim of Enhancing Change Project Management for Economic Sustainability in Higher Education Institutions in Kenya.

Speaking on behalf of Ag. Vice Chancellor, Prof. Solomon Shibairo, during a review meeting at MMUST on Wednesday, 28th October 2020, Ag. DVC in charge of Planning, Research and Innovation, Prof. J.S.K. Achoka, said that the workshop will be held in strict adherence to the Ministry of Health and Education guidelines on management of COVID-19 in institutions of Higher learning. Prof. Achoka said that MMUST has an active COVID-19 emergency response team, which offers direction on matters concerning the pandemic. She added that it is an honor for MMUST to host the 2nd national multiplication training in Kenya.

The Ag. DVC in charge of Academics and Student Affairs in Kibabii University, Prof.Julius Kiprop Mayio, acknowledged the workshop’s contribution to multidisciplinary research through networking of scholars from different Universities across the country. He lauded Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST), for registering four (4) participants, which was the highest number out of twenty (20) participants drawn from twelve (12) Universities in Kenya. He said that the aim of the visit was to assess the preparedness of MMUST for the important workshop.

Kibabii University Director of Performance Contracting and Quality Assurance, Dr. Bramwel Muniru Muganda, emphasized on the importance of the workshop for the parties involved and thanked MMUST for its co-operation in hosting it. Concurring with Dr. Muganda, Prof. Peter Bukhala, Director Research and Postgraduate Studies at MMUST, said that the workshop will provide an opportunity for MMUST in terms of research.

Director in charge of Curriculum Review and Development at MMUST, Dr. Judah Ndiku, explained some logistics of the workshop, adding that some of the facilitators will be experts from the Commission for University Education (CUE) and DAAD. He expressed his gratitude to MMUST management board for its approval to hold the workshop in the University. Ndiku said that the committee in charge of organizing the workshop is in liaison with other sections of the University such as ICT, to ensure that the training workshop is a success.

Other MMUST staff present at the meeting were: Dr. Lydia Anyonje-Director, Corporate Communications and Marketing at MMUST, Mr. Wilberforce Shiundu- Directorate of Corporate Communications and Marketing (DCCM), Ms. Sandra Awuor- Directorate of Corporate Communications and Marketing (DCCM) and Mr. Canon Odhiambo-Office of the DVC(PRI).
