Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology is set to host the World Engineering Day Celebrations on 4th March, 2023 at the Multi-Purpose Hall (MPH). The celebrations themed, ‘Engineering Innovation for a More Resilient World’ presents an opportunity to celebrate the important contributions of engineering to sustainable development and modern life in the county. Marking this year’s celebrations, the event will commence with a procession at 9 a.m. from MMUST, through Kakamega Town to Approved School where the participants will make a donation of assorted items. The delegation will then reconvene at the MPH for the official ceremony. This is spearheaded by the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK)- Western Region in collaboration with the MMUST’s School of Engineering and Built Environment (SEBE).
The event which will bring together about 600 engineers and students will be culminated by a week-long Virtual ‘Institution of Engineers Career Week’ from Monday, 6th March, 2023, 4 to 6 p.m. This will see MMUST marketing its programs, increasing students’ employability rate, as well as providing an avenue for the students who are interested in growing their careers, to interact with professionals in understanding the requirements of the job market.
Partners of the ceremony include; the Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA), Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA), National Construction Authority (NCA), and the MMUST Alumni.
