MMUST Chancellor, Dr. Peter Muthoka, accompanied by the Chair of Council, Dr. Jeremy Bundi and the Council members, Mr. Samson Muchelule and Mr. Don Riaro, visited the University Friday 18th to 19th May, 2018.
While welcoming the Chancellor and his team, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Fred Otieno presented an overview of his achievements since becoming MMUST CEO in the year 2013. The DVCs Prof. Joseph Rotich (A&F), Prof. Josephine Ngaira (A&SA) and Prof. William Shivoga (PR&I), the University Senate, staff union leaders, and student representatives as well briefed the Chancellor on the operations and achievements of their sectors.
“I feel privileged to serve MMUST,” Dr. Peter Muthoka said, while expressing his determination to work with the University in compliance with the Principles of Governance. He urged the MMUST fraternity to embrace team work and stay committed to their obligations.
The Chancellor commended Prof. Otieno for the work well done, and emphasized on the need to maintain the achievements with increased standards. The Chancellor further urged the MMUST community to strengthen disaster mitigation and response measures. He also recommended the need for positive institutional transformation with proper information dissemination.
The Chancellor’s visit was preceded by the opening of Faulu Microfinance Bank, Kakamega Branch on 17th May, 2018, which marked the opening of twenty chances for MMUST interns at the bank.
