It was yet another happy day for MMUST at the Kenya Universities Sports Association (KUSA) National tournaments, held at Kibabii University over the weekend. MMUST Scrabble Team was on top of other scrabble giants like Kenyatta University, Technical University of Kenya, and Mount Kenya University.
MMUST very intelligently competed to win four out of the first ten positions. The men’s scrabble team comprised of Francis Gichu, Maxwell Waititu, Michael Wambua and Daniel Were, who attained position 1, 3, 6 and 8 respectively; while the women’s team comprising of Dorcas Koskei, Dinette Morara, Barvellin Wamaitha and Emily Omondi, snatched positions 1, 2, 3 and 5, respectively.
This performance made MMUST clinch the overall top position with a landslide, having a total of 53.5 wins, followed by a distant Kenyatta University with 33.5 wins. In other in-door games, MMUST took position 2 in women’s Tennis and Karate; while in Chess the men’s team was position 3.
With sustained support from the university management under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor Prof. Fred Otieno, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic & Student Affairs) Prof. Josephine Ngaira, and the Dean of Students Dr. Bernadette Abwao, MMUST students have exhibited greater participation and performance in sports and other activities nationally.
