MMUST And Shikusa Borstal Institution Revive Collaborative Talks In An Effort To Establish A Long-Term Partnership!!

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology has revived talks with Shikusa Borstal Institution (SBI) to establish a Collaborative Agreement. Today, 2nd September, 2024, a team from SBI, led by the Senior Superintendent of Prisons (SSP) in charge of the institution-Mr. George Odera, HSC, paid a courtesy call to the Directorate of International Relations and Academic Linkages (DIAL). The delegates, officially received by the Director-DIAL, Dr. Umulkher Ali, visited MMUST to spruce up the draft agreement, which was initiated in 2022.

MMUST and SBI teams hold collaborative discussions at DIAL.

During the meeting, MMUST and SBI teams discussed the need to incorporate more Schools and Departments into the Agreement, in order to achieve greater results. The two (2) institutions are set to partner in training, research and innovation, community outreach, teaching practice programmes, field attachment and extra-curricular activities.

Shikusa Borstal Institution, located in Kakamega County, is a correctional center that provides rehabilitation to juvenile offenders, and is managed by the Kenya Prisons Service. Mr. Odera was accompanied by SBI’s Liaison Officer, Mr. Jack Anyanje as well as the Public Relations Officer, Ms. Tesarah Mwinami.
