MMUST Staff Retirement Benefits Scheme Marks a Fresh Chapter as It Elects New Trustees

MMUST Staff Retirement Benefits Scheme has marked a fresh leadership chapter with the election of new Trustee Representatives to office. The newly elected trustees, who will be representing the Academic and Administrative & Technical staff members in Grades I-IV, are Prof. Peter Bukhala and Ms. Dorah Khaluyi Mbakaya respectively. The election of new trustees held on 9th September 2024, is an opportunity to bring fresh perspectives to managing the Staff Retirement Benefits Scheme (SRBS).

Prof. Bukhala garnered 118 votes while his counterpart, Dr. Charles Omondi, got 92 out of 210 valid votes cast. On the other hand, Ms. Mbakaya trounced her two competitors to scoop a whopping 67 votes out of the 131 valid votes cast.

Speaking after the elections, Prof. Bukhala thanked members for electing him and promised to make the Scheme greater.

“I will ensure effective communication and transparency to build trust with Scheme members. As a trustee, I will ensure that I listen to the concerns of employees, address any grievances promptly, and keep members informed about key decisions and changes,” said Prof. Bukhala.

In the words of Prof. Bukhala, we hope that the newly appointed trustees will get to work, forge ahead, and make the MMUST SRBS great! The success of this transition will ultimately be measured by the trustees' ability to effectively manage the Scheme and to maintain and enhance the trust and confidence of its members.
