Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) has formalized a strategic partnership with Northland Professional Institute (NoPI) through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement and Memorandum of Finance. The agreement, aimed at fostering academic exchange and promoting quality education, sets the stage for collaboration in various areas, including the introduction of MMUST-approved Certificate and Diploma programs at NoPI. This initiative is expected to broaden access to quality education while strengthening the capacity of both institutions. The MoU also focuses on several joint initiatives, such as capacity building, research, and infrastructure sharing, to ensure the long-term sustainability of MMUST and NoPI. Both institutions have committed to active collaboration that will involve staff and student participation in delivering on their educational mandates.
Speaking during the event, the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Hussein Golicha emphasized the strategic importance of the partnership in enhancing the MMUST’s mission to provide accessible, high-quality education. He highlighted that the collaboration with NoPI would enhance access to quality education and drive institutional growth.
“This partnership marks an important milestone in our efforts to increase student recruitment and strengthen our academic profile. We look forward to a productive and impactful collaboration with Northland Professional Institute,” he stated.

The Director of International Relations and Academic Linkages (DIAL), Dr. Umulkher Ali, echoed Prof. Golicha’s sentiments, emphasizing the far-reaching impact of the partnership on students’ learning experiences. She underscored how the collaboration would not only broaden academic exposure but also enhance the institutions’ competitiveness.
“This partnership presents an exciting opportunity for MMUST and NoPI to leverage their combined strengths in knowledge, resources, and expertise. It will enrich the learning experience for students across the country by offering them diverse academic opportunities,” she commented.
Mr. Issack Farah, a representative from NoPI, highlighted the significance of the partnership with MMUST in addressing critical challenges faced by their pastoral community, particularly in light of drought. He expressed gratitude for the collaboration, saying that it will create opportunities for the youth to gain more skills that will enable them to adapt to the changing environment and improve their livelihoods.

As MMUST continues to seek innovative ways to expand its academic offerings and student base, this partnership with Northland Professional Institute represents a promising step forward in the pursuit of excellence in education.
