The event was replete with an impressive number of University Management Board Members, Professors, Deans, Directors, Associate Deans Chairpersons of Departments and critical staff from the academic Division. One of the ‘take-homes’ from the Eldoret workshop was the need by all staff, including Senators, to completely embrace and integrate ICT in student information systems, human resource management systems, communication platforms, facilities and asset management systems.

In order to achieve this, one of the facilitators, Dr. Jared Ongaro pointed out that there is no shortcut. “Universities must just invest in top notch digitization, in the right gadgets and in gamification of technology. I urge you to make this intentional. This way, students will have access to virtual labs, flipped classrooms, adaptive learning technologies, personalized learning paths, and fun learning,” stated Dr. Ongaro.

Notably, this training comes at the right time when the institution is implementing its new strategic plan.  Such capacity building will undoubtedly equip the Senators with the requisite skills and attitude required to enable the Strategic Plan to become a driving force and transformative tool in MMUST.
