Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology and the institution’s alumni are working together in a renewed move to upscale the global image of the institution. Speaking on Monday 31st August, 2020 when the MMUST Alumni Association (MMUSTAA) executive members paid him a courtesy call, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Solomon Shibairo said Alumni are a critical resource of universities across the world. He emphasised the importance of the two parties working together in the interest of making MMUST a centre of excellence both academically and in research.
Led by the Chairman of MMUSTAA Mr. Kennedy Lubengu Echessa, the alumni association brought to table the most key issues that need to be addressed in order to drive the University image higher. Mr. Echessa congratulated the new University leadership for their respective appointments and assured them of the alumni support. “Alumni is the arm that gives support to institutions. We promise you our support to run this great university,” said Mr. Echessa. Prof. Shibairo challenged the executive members of the association to make use of their positions to market the university and even provide scholarships to needy students who face financial challenges.
The MMUSTAA chairman was flanked by the Secretary General- Mr. Kennedy Wabwire, Treasurer -Mr. Ignatius Nyikuri, Public Relations Officer -Mr. Mathew Wakoli, Organizing Secretary- Mr. Samson Nabutola, Mr. Stanlaus Sifuna Ms. Linett Tuyia and Ms. Jane Njeri. Other members of the University who were present at the meeting included the Deputy Vice Chancellor Planning Research and Innovation Prof. Judith Achoka, the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration and Finance Prof. Charles Mutai, the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics and Students Affairs Prof. Peter Odera, Registrar Academics Prof. Thomas Sakwa, Registrar Adminstration Ms. Racheal Atamba, Finance Officer CPA Jared Rading, , Director Corporate Communications and Marketing Dr. Lydia Anyonje and Ms. Purity Muchere.
