The Ag. Vice Chancellor, Prof. Solomon Shibairo, on 3rd June 2021, joined the Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Heritage, Amb. Dr. Amina Mohammed and the Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Mr. Keriako Tobiko in a tree planting exercise at Iloro Forest Station in Shinyalu. The exercise was organized by the Kakamega Forest Heritage Foundation in conjunction with the World Safari Rally Championship.

Other teams present were Kenya Forest Service (KFS), Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), National Police Service (NPS), Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI) and students from several institutions.
