Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology has today, 5th October 2021, received a donation of 60,000 face masks courtesy of a Multi stakeholder partnership project with key partners being MMUST, Malteser International, AMREF Health Africa and Kenya Health Federation.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Solomon Shibairo, stated that COVID-19 is still a key issue and that this donation will go a long way in reducing the rate of its spread. He acknowledged the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedical Sciences (SONMAPS) for taking lead in the initiative that bore this collaboration.
Present at the official handing over ceremony of the masks were; Prof. Charles Mutai, Prof. Rtd. Col. John Okoth, Ms. Scarlet Kavaya, Ms. Beatrice Mukabana, Mr. James Muriithi, Ms. Lucy Kageha, Ms. Dorris Tuitoek and Mr. Joseph Mburu.
The face masks will be distributed within and outside the University.
