Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) Alcohol and Drug Abuse Committee has today 21 June 2022 commenced a five (5) day workshop for purposes of equipping members with drug abuse intervention skills. The workshop, which was sponsored by the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA), was held at the Main Catering Unit (MCU) Boardroom. This key event in the University’s calendar themed was organized by the committee chairperson, Dr. Dennis Omayio.
The event targeting workers is geared towards preventing, controlling and mitigating impacts of drug abuse in Kenya. This is carried out under key thematic areas, namely, Public Education and Advocacy, Counselling and Rehabilitation, Compliance, Quality Control and Risk Management as well as Research and Policy Development.
The NACADA team comprised of NACADA Western Region Manager, Mrs. Sarah Koske, Programme Officer, Mr. George Kasera and Ms. Linet Muthoni. The MMUST staff who were present at the event were, the Dean, School of Natural Sciences (SONAS), Dr. Joseph Owino, Dean of students, Dr. Bernadette Abwao
