The pandemic has been accompanied by an infodemic, we are at risk of both the infodemic and the pandemic. Research findings presented during the recent 2021 Kenya DAAD Scholars Virtual Conference has established that inaccurate information revolving on Covid 19 could be more a pandemic than the adversities of the virus itself. The misleading information has been proved to create massive fear in the society leading to more fatalities and severe conditions.
Officials from Clinical Officers Council (COC) of Kenya have stamped a mark of approval on Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology’s Clinical Medicine programme, housed under the School of Public Health, Biomedical Sciences and Technology. This was during a routine inspection that took place on Monday, 21st June 2021 at the University.
A team of researchers led by the Ag. DVC ASA Prof. Peter Odera who doubles as the Principal Investigator, was on Tuesday 22nd June 2021 commended for presenting research findings that enriched the Busia County Healthcare Workers with holistic approaches in handling Covid 19 patients.
The Division of Planning Research and Innovation has organized a workshop at Kitale Sports Club to carry out Strategic Planning and Policy Review. On 22nd June 2021, the participants were taken through the divisional targets of the University and the status of implementation of the Divisional policies among other critical aspects of Policy development and review.
According to DVC PRI, Prof. Judith Achoka the University has attained over fifty percent of implementing of the University Strategic Plan except for a few areas that require improvement.
The Strategic Planning and Policy Review Workshop is still ongoing and will end on 23rd June 2021.

Prof. Sigot made an illuminating presentation on ‘Healthy Eating and Dietary Guidelines for Proper Nutrition during COVID-19 Pandemic’ during the 2021 Kenya DAAD Scholars Virtual Conference themed ‘Mitigating the impact of Covid 19 and future pandemics: Role of Academia’. Covid-19 pandemic has spread rapidly and extensively around the world since late 2019. This has had profound implications for Nutrition and Food Security around the globe.
MMUST Leadership Sensitization on Research Grants Management organized by the Directorate of Research and Post-graduate Support successfully kicked off on 16th June 2021 at Kitale Sports Club.. The informative workshop was officially opened by the Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Solomon Shibairo. Other notable University managers present during the opening included DVC PRI Prof. Judith Achoka and Director, Research and Post-graduate Support, Prof. Peter Bukhala.
