Dr. Benard O. Omondi (PhD)

Dr. Benard Omondi holds a Doctorate Degree in Engineering (Applied Sciences) from Vrije Universiteit Brussels (VUB), Belgium. His areas of academic and research interest are in the fields of Structural Analysis, Emerging Construction Materials, Structural Health Monitoring, Advances in Concrete Technology, Structural Design Based on Eurocodes, Affordable Housing, and Finite Element Modelling/Analysis.

His major scholarly contribution was his role in developing a methodology for crack detection in structural concrete using combined Digital Image Correlation and Acoustic Emission with practical application in Prestressed Concrete Railway Sleepers. He currently serves as the Departmental Postgraduate Coordinator and Departmental Final Year Projects Coordinator. 

In the university, Dr. Omondi is a trained Integrity Assurance Officer (IAO). Nationally, he is a member of the technical committee on Eurocodes with Kenya Bureau of Standards.

Professionally, Dr. Omondi is a registered Graduate Engineer with Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).
