Lecturer

Doctor Millicent W. Ambetsa holds a doctorate degree in Disaster management and humanitarian assistance specialising in maternal health care. She also holds a Master’s degree in Public health and epidemiology (MPHE).

Her responsibilities as a lecturer are to:       

  • Teaches, gives assignments, mark examinations, moderation, supervision of examination and evaluation of undergraduate students  in the entire school of nursing and midwifery
  • Supervision of undergraduate students research proposals, community diagnosis and outreach services.
  • She also participates in planning, development, implementation and evaluation of curricula in the department, attending and participating in departmental meetings and other activities for effective and efficient management of the department and school.
  • Actively participate in departmental research activities including proposal writing, data collection, analysis and dissemination.
  • Community service.
  • Caries out any other duty assigned to her by the COD and the Dean.

Her areas of academics and research interest are in public health and epidemiology, community health and maternal and reproductive health.

Her major contributions are towards obstetrics risks associated with elderly primigravidas in Kakamega County, Kenya.

She is currently a lecturer at the school of Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedic sciences.

  1. The prevalence of adverse pregnancy and child complications among elderly primigravidas in Kakamega County, Kenya.
  2. The effects of late age pregnancy and pregnancy outcomes among elderly primigravidas in Kakamega County, Kenya.
  3. The contributing factors associated with late age pregnancy among elderly primigravidas in Kakamega County, Kenya.
  4. Existing strategic interventions in reducing risks associated with late pregnancy among child bearing women in Kakamega County, Kenya.
