Job Title and Responsibilities

Associate Professor, Strategic HRM & Corporate Governance 

Prof. Robert K.W. Egessa is an Associate Professor of Strategic Human Resource Management (HRM) and Corporate Governance and Director of Career Services at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST). With 30 years’ experience in academia, leadership and consultancy, he has previously served as Dean, School of Business and Economics and Chair of the Department of Business Administration and Management Sciences at MMUST and on the National Governing Councils of Kenya Institute of Management and the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM), Kenya. Apart from teaching and holding leadership roles in various bodies, he has consulted for different organizations in the areas of Human Resource Management, Strategic Management, Corporate Governance and Leadership. His professional work and researches focus on the intersection of Leadership, Human Resource Management (HRM) and Governance in building sustainable organizations.
Prof. Egessa has played a pivotal role in shaping HRM and governance practice in Kenya through contributing to Human Resource Management and Corporate Governance discourse and policy, management practice and continuous professional development. He is an active member of the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM), the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM-K) and Institute of Certified Secretaries (ICS).

He holds a PhD in Business Management (Strategic HRM) from Moi University, an MBA in HRM from Kenyatta University, and a B.Ed. (Arts) from the University of Nairobi. He also earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management from Cambridge International College (UK). Professionally, he is a Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP-K) and a Certified Public Secretary (CPS-K). He further holds certifications in Governance and Health as well as Human Resources for Health (HRH) from the Global Health eLearning Centre (USAID).
