Dr. Silvenus O. Konyole

Dr. Konyole is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Nutritional Sciences at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology in Kenya with over 15 years experience. He obtained his PhD in Human Nutrition from the University of Nairobi, Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (UNITID). He has an MSc in Food Technology and Nutrition earned jointly between the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and the Universiteit Ghent in Belgium (cum laude), BSc. Food Science & Technology (First Class Honours) from the University of Nairobi. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Educational Technology from the University of Capetown in South Africa and a certificate in Qualitative & Mixed Methods in International Health Research from the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Antwerp, Belgium.

Dr Konyole is a Training of Trainers (TOT) alumnus of the Scaling Up Nutrition Leadership in Africa (SUNLEAD) Africa program and the 11th African Nutrition Leadership Program (ANLP) by North West University and Wageningen University. He held a Post Doctoral Fellowship at the Department of Nutrition, Exercise and Sports; University of Copenhagen,Denmark from July-Dec 2016.

His current research interests include Complementary feeding, Community Nutrition & health; Food and Nutrition Security, Food Preservation, Body Composition, Maternal, Infant and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) and Insects for food and feed among other engagements. Dr Konyole serves as a Reviewer for many scientific peer reviewed Journals and is currently the Chair, Department of Nutritional Sciences among other management assignments in the University. He has vast experience as a consultant in health and development. He has also won several travel and research grants for various organizations in the course of his duties and is member of the African Nutrition Society and other professional organizations.
