 Dr. Oseno Ben

Dr. Oseno Ben is a senior lecturer in the school of Business and Economic, Department of Accounting and Finance of Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST). Previously, he worked at the same institution as a non-teaching staffing in Finance Department for seven years. This rear chance has exposed him to practical financial management practices in the public sector which he currently blends with the lecture method of learning delivery tool. In his professional undertakings that spans over 17 years, he has successfully Authored 5 books in both Finance and Social Science Research with over 10 publications in the cutting edge peer reviewed journals.

Dr. Oseno Ben holds B.ED (Arts) Economics and Business Studies, MBA – Finance Option and PhD in Disaster Management and Sustainable Development in Disaster Risk Financing Analysis. Dr. Oseno’s areas of expertise are in the field of disaster risk financing analysis, public financial management, Saccos societies financing and social science research. Dr. Oseno has made immense contribution to universities teaching, research and supervision of post graduate students, widely published and consultancy assignments for both Government and Non-Governmental Organizations.

Dr. Oseno  has served a consultant in one of the mega project of Islamic Relief Kenya (IS-K) dubbed Community Based Livestock Insurance Product  (CBLIP). He was the lead developer of the project which has had a great impact on the lives   and livelihoods of the pastoralists’ community in Moyale Sub-county of Marsbit County. The project was estimated to cost over Kshs. 100 million. In community service, Dr. Oseno is a director  of Suba Education Rescue Centre (SERC) an entity which is transforming lives of the marginalize minority  Suba community in Homa-Bay county by aiding access to basic education,, middle level colleges and institutions of higher learning both locally and internationally through linkages  with different stakeholders in the education sector.

In addition, the soft spoken don sits in boards of a number of secondary schools and he is a full member of Kenya Institute of Management (KIM). He is a mentor with mentorship biasness in    professional courses for the under graduate students.  Finally, Dr. Oseno is a Christian, married and has soft business acumen in real-estates investment.
