Dr. Achiles Nyongesa Simiyu

Dr Achiles Nyongesa Simiyu is currently a senior lecturer (Operator theory and Functional analysis) in the department of mathematics of Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) having obtained his PhD in Pure Mathematics (operator theory) from Maseno University in the year 2010. Achiles is a Pure Mathematics scholar with a focus on current research interests in operator theory, functional analysis, topology and algebra. He is the programme leader of Pure Mathematics courses in MMUST. He is also a trainer with a focus on project management and monitoring and evaluation of projects. He is also a trained ISO 9001:2008 internal quality auditor. He is Interactive, person of integrity, analytical, fast learner, creative thinker, self motivated, a team player who relates easily with ability to work under pressure, for long hours and under minimum supervision.
He has worked in MMUST since July 2006 to date. Apart from teaching in MMUST for the last 15 years he has worked at management level in the university for 9 years where he has gained a wealth of experience in managing departmental, faculty and university functions. He has served as departmental, faculty and university timetabling and examinations coordinator and also served as coordinator Webuye campus of MMUST. He has published widely in refereed journals in his area of expertise. He has supervised a number of postgraduate students successfully to completion. He is a member of Mathematics Association of Kenya (MACKNET) and a full member of the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM). Dr. Achiles currently serves as the chairman of Mathematics department in MMUST.
