Dr. Annette W. Okoth is a Lecturer, Researcher, Expert in Data Analytics & Statistical Modeling, STEM Champion, Mentor & Science Leadership Coach. She teaches Statistics at the Department of Mathematics, Masinde Muliro University of Science & Technology.
She holds a PhD in Statistics from Masinde Muliro University of Science & Technology, her research area being Statistical modeling.
Given the multidisciplinary nature of Statistics, her research focuses on a number of thematic areas, including health, education, gender, food security and Climate Change. She is establishing herself in Health related Research, as most of her current projects are in this area. Annette is a Career, Leadership and Personal Growth Coach at both individual and Organizational levels. She has facilitated various career and leadership workshops for Students, Educators, Early Career Researchers (ECRs) and corporates. She facilitates with Africa Science Leadership Programme (ASLP) and Inclusive Innovation.
Being passionate about sound leadership, Annette is involved in mentorship, especially for the youth, with the view to empowering them with leadership skills. As a Scientist and knowing the challenges that youth, especially girls face in charting their career paths in Science, she is always there to help them make informed choices on matters of careers and life.
She is the Chapter Secretary, African Women in Science & Engineering (AWSE), Western – MMUST Chapter.
She organizes and executes outreach activities to schools where she mentors, does academic coaching and speaks passionately to students on the need to excel in STEM Subjects.
She has a number of publications in refereed journals in her area of expertise.
Her current projects include:
i. Using System Dynamics to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of Community Health Promoters in kenya.
ii. Mathematical Modeling for Mental Health: Women DErive MAthematical ModeLs For MenTal HealtH (WEALTH)
iii. Gender Equality for Employability Through Entrepreneurship in STEM (GEEES)
iv. System Dynamics Modeling for Effective Management of Sexual and Reproductive Health Behaviour Among Adolescent Girls in Kenya.
v. Empowering Future Educators: Enhancing 21st Century Skills through STEM Education in Kenya and Somalia.
