About Me:
James Robert Wakungwi Sakwa, a Principal medical laboratory Technologist (PMLT) has a diploma, higher diploma (medical parasitology & Entomology) and a degree in medical laboratory science from Kenya medical training college and Mount Kenya University respectively.
Has facilitation, surveying, and technical and assessment expertise in medical laboratory testing in general and has 28 years of progressive experience in senior technical management and supervision in the health sector.
He has broad experience with Kenya’s health system.
He has more than 21 years of global health experience in diagnostics with interests in parasitological diseases diagnosis, control and program. Laboratory quality management system, biosafety /biosecurity and continuous quality improvement supporting health systems.
He has been involved in new malaria case management as a trainer of the laboratory component from 2009.
He was the lead negotiator, country representative and instrumental during the bidding and ultimately hosting of the 29th world congress of the International Federation of Biomedical laboratory science (IFBLS) in 2010 for the very first time in Africa,
PMLT, Sakwa joined Masinde Muliro University of science and technology in 2013 as a senior medical laboratory technologist/clinical instructor for medical parasitology and Entomology.
In this position he has been involved in a number of facilitations, assessments and surveillance projects.
He also ensures that projects are planned and implemented efficiently.
Sakwa is an astute forthright, innovative, results oriented with excellent organizational managerial, interpersonal and communication skills. He currently also works as a consultant in the medical laboratory sector.
Qualifications:
Mount Kenya University – Kenya 2011-2013 BMLS Bachelor of medical laboratory science
Kenya Medical Training College – Kenya 1998-1999 HND Higher National Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science (Medical parasitology/Entomology)
Kenya Medical Training College – Kenya 1991-1994 Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science
