VERONICA MWIKALI KILUVA, BSC., MSC., PHD, MKNAS/201/2015

Dr. Veronica Mwikali is a Senior Lecturer in Water Resources Engineering & Risk Management in the School of Disaster Management & Humanitarian Assistance (SDMHA)] in MMUST]. M. Kiluva holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Disaster Preparedness and Engineering Management, a Master of Science degree in Disaster Preparedness and Engineering Management, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Engineering.

Her areas of academic research development and documentation interests are defined by her expertise in water resources engineering, disaster preparedness and risk management. Her major scholarly contribution is characterised by functions of advancing natural hazards and disasters research, specifically those related to and triggered by water related phenomena such as floods and droughts situations. Dr. Kiluva is instrumental in authoring tailor-made reference manuscripts and materials for trainees and practitioners in the field of floods and droughts risk and disaster risk management.

Dr. Kiluva is a registered engineer (number: B3005) and has membership to international and national professional associations, research groups and societies, such as the Kenya National Academy of Sciences (Number: MKNAS/201/2015), the International Society for Digital Earth (ISDE), the Kenya Meteorological Society (KMS), and the Nile Basin Capacity Building Network for River Engineering (NBCBN-RE) among others.

She particularly has a great passion for unearthing the dynamics of ecosystems changes that are brought about by the impacts of natural hazards on the scale of the entire society down to the level of individual ecosystems inhabitants. With effect from 1st February 2022, she has been serving as the Chairperson of the Department of Disaster Preparedness & Engineering Management (DPEM) in the School of Disaster Management & Humanitarian Assistance (SDMHA), MMUST.

Some of her key published works include the following.
