Dr. James Francis Otieno

Dr. James Francis Otieno is a Lecturer in the Department of Criminology and Social Work in the School of Arts and Social Sciences. He is the departmental Welfare Chairman and Patron, Criminological Society of Kenya(CRIMSA). He teaches postgraduate, undergraduate, diploma and certificate students and supervises SASS students while on field practicum.Dr.J.Otieno also advises and mentors Masters Students on research proposal and theses writing.

His areas of academic and research interests are in the fields of radicalization and crime causation against the backdrop of his vast experience in the field of security.He holds a PhD in Peace and Conflict Studies from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, Masters in Criminology and Social Order from the University of Nairobi (2004), Investigations and Crime Management from Criminal Investigations Department Training School- Kenya (2002) and Bachelors of Education from Catholic University of Eastern Africa (2000).
He has supervised more than 30 Masters Students.
