Prof. Samuel Soita China

Professor Samuel China is an Associate Professor in the Department of Disaster Management and Sustainable Development, School of Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology. He teaches, supervises and mentors graduates and postgraduate students on academic and research matters.
His area of academic and research interests are in the fields of Land Use Planning and Geo-Informatics. He has mastery in land use planning, soil and water conservation, water supply, irrigation, water harvesting, disaster risk reduction, environmental management and land development. Prof. Soita is devoted to achieving best practices in capacity building through training, research, consultancy and community service.
Prof.China  holds a Doctorate degree in Land Use Planning and Geo-Informatics from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom (1993), Master of Science in Agricultural Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University, USA (1983), Post Graduate Diploma in Soil Conservation the University of Nairobi (1979) and Bachelors of Science in Agriculture from the University of Nairobi (1976)
He has supervised 13 PhD and 14 Masters students.
