Dr. Jasper M. Ondulo

Dr. Jasper Ondulo is a Senior Lecturer and Exam Coordinator in the School of Computing and Informatics, Department of Computer Science.He has a PhD in Health Informatics from Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science & Technology (2013-2018), Masters’ in Data Communication from KCA University (2005-2009) and Bachelors of Industrial Engineering (Electronics Option) from Egerton University.

Dr. Ondulo lectures at all levels of study including courses related to Computer (IT, Computer Science, and Computer Forensics) with emphasis on the Engineering aspects, Architecture, Organization and Applications; Circuit Theory and Design, Digital Electronics and Logical Functions; Network Design and Implementation; Communication Principles; Cryptography and Network security; Artificial Intelligence, Research Methods, Health Informatics, Biostatistics and Epidemiology, Data Analytics, Computer & Digital Forensics among others. Additionally, he coordinates undergraduate projects and teaches postgraduate programmes in IT.

His areas of academic and research interest are in Health Informatics and other related fields of Information and Communication Technology in order to contribute to the emerging technologies of AI, IoT, Big data, Forensics, Blockchain, Computer Network and Security; as they apply in Health Informatics. He is keen on wish to addressing support strategies and processes to facilitate improved operations and efficiency by utilizing his vast experience in IT project management to support corporate clients across multiple stakeholders to achieve their goals.

Dr.Ondullo’s major contribution to practice and the broader community service, has been in championing the implementation of EMR and its associated infrastructure in forty eight health facilities in Kakamega County and in several other health facilities in four other neighboring Counties, besides capacity-building the health workers on the adoption and routine use of health information systems (HIS) in service delivery.

He supervises both Masters and PhD students in their research studies.

  1. Speech to Text Recognition System-STRS (Transcriber), for people with Hearing Impairment.
  2. An IOT based Telemedicine toolkit, for rural health data collection
  3. HealthIT project for Health Information System-HIS & Child Protection Information Management System-CPIMS
  4. A member of MMUST/Brandenburg University of Applied Sciences-German partnership team, leading the role of IT (Telemedicine) in health for sustainable development of rural areas.
  5. Strengthening quality improvement of postnatal care through implementation and evaluation of eRegistries at Endebess sub-County hospital, western Kenya
