SCHOOL OF MEDICINE CANDIDATES EXHIBIT MASTERY AND EXPERTISE AS THEY PRESENT MANIFESTOS TO ELECTORATES AHEAD OF ELECTIONS

On Friday 4th December 2020, Prof. James Aggrey Oloo and Dr. Donald A. Kokonya, two aspiring Deans in the School of Medicine (SoM), engaged in a debate where each presented their manifestos to the electorates. Members of the Electoral Board, led by the Chairman, Prof. John Shiundu, together with members of the School of Medicine, witnessed the nominated candidates share their vision and mission for the School. The members of the electoral board who participated in the big debate were Prof. John O Shiundu, Dr. Pamela Buhere, Dr. Bonface Ndinya, and Rev. Dr. Willis Otuya

MMUST HOSTS EDUCATION CS, PROF. GEORGE MAGOHA AT THE FIRST EVER COMPLETELY VIRTUAL STEMEIC2020 CONFERENCE IN THE REGION.

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology is the first University to host the first international virtual conference on Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, dubbed STEMEIC2020. The highly decorated and well attended international conference themed, ‘Integrating Pedagogy and Technology to ensure Resilience, Quality, Equity and Sustainability’ took place at MMUST from 25th to 27th November, 2020. The conference was graced by Cabinet Minister, Education, Prof. George Magoha, who was also attending on behalf of the President of Kenya, His Excellency Uhuru Kenyatta.

MMUST’s UASU MARKS THE LAST AGM FOR THIS GENERATION OF OFFICIALS

The Universities Academic Staff Union (UASU) on Tuesday, 1st December, 2020, held its Annual General semi-virtual Meeting at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology’s Main Catering Unit. Representatives from other Chapters including Kibabii University (KIBU), Kaimosi Friends University College (KAFUCO) and Turkana University College (TUC) were in attendance aside from MMUST officials and members. This is the last AGM for the officials currently in office.

MMUST’S BUTULA CENTRE NOW SET TO ACADEMICALLY RISE FOLLOWING THE LIBRARY GROUND BREAKING AND RENEWAL OF MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology’s Butula Centre on 20th November, 2020, simultaneously hosted the University managers for the ground breaking of a library and signed the renewal of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) that was first signed on Friday 20th November, 2015. This is a great milestone in the journey of the centre towards becoming an Institution of Education, Research and Development. The MOU involved MMUST, Butula Centre, National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) and the County Government of Busia. The MOU signing, which was guided by the Directorate of International Relations and Linkages (DIAL), is expected to steer up development in the institution both academically and in terms of infrastructure.

MMUST HOSTS SECOND NATIONAL MULTIPLICATION TRAINING TO SPEARHEAD CHANGE MANAGEMENT IN HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS IN KENYA

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology researchers this week took the lead to champion change management in Higher Education institutions (HE). MMUST hosted the highly illustrated National Multiplication Training which took place on 9th to 13th November, 2020 at the Main Catering Unit hall at the University. This intensive training workshop is part of the DIES programme (Dialogue on Innovative Higher Education Strategies). These are National Multiplication Trainings (NMT) coordinated by DAAD and aim at strengthening Higher Education management structures in developing countries.

MMUST SET TO HOST SECOND ‘DIES’ NATIONAL MULTIPLICATION TRAINING IN KENYA

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) will be the second University in Kenya to host the DIES (Dialogue on Innovative Higher Education Strategies) National Multiplication semi-virtual workshop from 9th to 13th November ,2020.

MMUST AMONG UNIVERSITIES TARGETED BY FRANCE-BASED AGENCY FOR STUDENT EXCHANGE AND STUDY OPPORTUNITIES

MMUST is among the Universities targeted by a France-based agency for student exchange programs and study opportunities in higher education. The manager of ‘Campus France Kenya’, Ms. Solveig Gathelier, was at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology on Thursday, 29th October, 2020 to speak to staff and students about studying opportunities in France. According to Ms. Gathelier, students do not necessarily have to speak in French for them to study there.

MMUST GRABS REGIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION IN MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCE

2020 10 14 02 56 53 WindowMasinde Muliro University of Science and Technology has yet again received regional andinternational recognition from the MedicalLaboratory Professionals of East, Central and Southern Africa Health Community (ECSA-HC). The ECSA-HC has nominated MMUST’s Senior Medical Laboratory Technologist, Mr. James Wakungwi Sakwa to chair an interim committee of the proposed Medical Laboratory Science College.

SUCCESSFUL DEANS ELECTIONS IS A HUGE LEAP OF GROWTH FOR MASINDE MULIRO UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

In a showcase of maturity, collegiality and integrity, the just concluded Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology Deans of Schools elections have effectively catapulted the institution into a towering embodiment of high democratic ideals.

Speaking during the occasion, MMUST’s Vice Chancellor Prof. Solomon Shibairo encouraged Deans to embrace Information Communication Technology (ICT) and use it extensively once they take up their new mandates. “As Deans, you are becoming leaders at a very dynamic time during which you may not see your students face to face for a whole year, you need to acquaint yourselves with ICT and ensure that your staff teach students online,” urged Prof. Shibairo. Commenting on the need for the Deans to have a strategy, the renowned Professor of Horticulture advised the new managers to study the critical documents governing the University and if possible, create new ones. “You must uphold integrity and embrace research. There’s need for all of you to ensure diversity of communities and gender,” he stated
