MMUST is delighted to inform you that on 28th January 2025, Lieutenant General David KC Tarus, the Commander of the Kenya Army, alongside Brigadier Joel M'Arimi, Commander of the Armoured Brigade,  paid a courtesy call to the Office of the Vice Chancellor. The two senior military officers are among the postgraduate students at the renowned School of Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance (SDMHA). The other notable officers who were also part of the team and are post-graduate students at SDMHA included Mr. Peter Onyango, Mr. Benjamin Masika, and Mr. Edwin Masika. This not only serves as an inspiration to our students but also highlights the importance of continuous learning, regardless of one’s professional standing.

The Vice-Chancellor- Prof. Solomon Shibairo, applauded the officers for 'Choosing MMUST' adding that their commitment to studies is a remarkable example of how education and leadership can go hand in hand.

SDMHA is highly regarded for its comprehensive curriculum, which equips students with the skills needed to manage and mitigate the effects of disasters, coordinate humanitarian efforts, and ensure the resilience of communities. The program has attracted professionals from various sectors, including the military, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations, all of whom aim to contribute meaningfully to disaster and humanitarian response efforts.
