
MMUST Inspires Career Choices at 2025 Kisumu Girls’ High School Fair
Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) made a notable impact at the Kisumu Girls’ High School Annual Career Fair 2025, an event that drew participation from leading institutions across the country to guide students in making well-informed career choices. This event held on 31st May 2025 served as a crucial platform for high school students to explore various academic and professional pathways in a rapidly changing global landscape. MMUST’s delegation actively engaged with students offering valuable insights into the University’s diverse range of programs and career development initiatives.

The well attended event was graced by a distinguished educator and advocate for talent development who also serves as the Secretary General of the World Talent Federation, Prof. Humphrey Oborah. He is the Founder of the Digital Advisory and Learning Centre (Dalc) who has established several Gift and Talent Screening Clinics and Specialized Academic Clinics. This initiative is aimed to identify and nurture talent in students, providing them with the resources and support they need to thrive academically and personally.
“At the World Talent Federation, we advocate for talent-based education, an approach that recognizes and nurtures individual potential. Every student here has a distinct ability that, if properly guided, can lead to a fulfilling and impactful career. The world is shifting rapidly and today, various aspects such as Artificial Intelligence, climate change, global health, and digital transformation are redefining the job market. The students of today must be equipped not only with knowledge, but with adaptability, creativity, and purpose,” stated Prof. Oborah.

Representing the Director of Career Services, Dr. Dennis Ochieno (Director of Short Courses and Webometrics Research), emphasized the MMUST’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and student-centered learning. He highlighted the University’s market-aligned programs and short courses that are designed to equip students with practical skills and knowledge necessary for success in an increasingly competitive job market.

Speaking during the event, Mr. Daudi Kioko (Customer Care Assistant), guided students through the diverse and dynamic range of academic programs offered at MMUST. He emphasized MMUST’s commitment to providing market-relevant, skill-based education tailored to the needs of today’s workforce. Mr. Kioko encouraged the students to consider MMUST as their ‘University of Choice’ when the time comes to make their selections, highlighting the institution’s strong academic reputation, supportive learning environment, and focus on innovation and practical experience.

The other members of staff who actively participated in the career fair included Ms. Terry Muthoni (Customer Care Assistant), Mr. Canon Odhiambo and Mr. Levi Wanyama. The fair brought together students from various neighboring schools, educators, and higher learning institutions in a collaborative effort to guide young minds towards a meaningful and future-ready careers.
