
MMUST’s Dr. Edward Okaya Selected As External Reviewer For The First Full Draft Of The PISA 2029 Reading Framework!!
Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology’s Dr. Edward Khasakhala Okaya has been selected by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to participate as an external reviewer for the first full draft of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2029 Reading Framework. Dr. Okaya’s expertise and professional background was recognized by the OECD Reading Expert Group, leading to his recommendation as a contributor in the final version of the Framework.
PISA is a joint initiative of the European Commission and OECD. Its development is supported by Code.org and leading international experts. The initiative contributes to the innovative domain of the PISA 2029 assessment and supports the EU’s goals to promote quality and inclusive digital education and skills. It is expected to shed light on whether young students have had opportunities to learn and to engage proactively and critically in a world where production, participation and social networking are increasingly mediated by digital and AI tools.
OECD is an international organization of 38 member countries committed to democracy and market-based economies. It acts as a policy forum and knowledge hub, analyzing data to promote policies that improve economic and social well-being, such as fostering growth, employment and sustainable development. The main goal is to promote policies that improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world. It acts as a forum for governments to share experiences, identify best practices, and coordinate domestic and international policies. The member countries include USA, Japan, United Kingdom, France, Canada and recent addition, Costa Rica and Colombia. Its headquarters are located in Paris-France.
