Dr. Beatrice Inyangala addresses the awardees.
Addressing the achievers, Dr. Inyangala lauded the PA-K Program as a vital extension of formal education. “The President’s Award Kenya reminds us of a profound truth: education is not confined to classrooms, lecture halls, or examination scripts. It also happens on rugged paths during community service, in quiet acts of compassion, and in moments when a young person chooses discipline over distraction, purpose over passivity, and service over self,” she said.
The PS emphasized that the Kenya of the future requires more than just academic credentials. She noted that the nation has to be built on courage, integrity, empathy, and resilience, values central to the PA-K framework.

Dr. Inyangala specifically recognized the MMUST PA-K Chapter for its role as a regional mentor. Under the patronage of Ms. Tabytha Shisia and the support of Mr. Levi Wanyama, MMUST has successfully inducted sister institutions including Kibabii University, Kaimosi Friends University, and Alupe University into the program. “Leadership is not about being ahead; it is about lifting others as you rise. MMUST has done exactly that,” she remarked, urging for the continued expansion of the program across the nation.

Echoing these sentiments, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Solomon Shibairo highlighted the University’s mission to produce well-rounded citizens. “Our goal has always been to produce holistic graduates who are not only technically proficient but also socially responsible and leadership-ready. The PA-K progra perfectly complements our mission. It reminds us that while degrees open doors, it is character and life skills that keep those doors open,” said Prof. Shibairo.
While tracing the remarkable trajectory of the program, the PA-K Patron, Ms. Tabytha Shisia, provided a comprehensive background of the Chapter’s growth at MMUST. She attributed the success of the Gold medalists to a culture of excellence fostered by the University management, and expressed her profound gratitude for their support in facilitating the students’ rigorous journey to the highest level of the award.

It is worth noting that under Ms. Shisia’s guidance; the Chapter has not only flourished internally but has also become a mentorship hub for neighboring universities.
As Kenya shifts away from exam-centered learning toward a skills-based approach, these Gold Awards prove that MMUST is certainly ahead of the curve.
