
MMUST TVET College Secures 18.7-Hectare Land Order and Full TVETA Accreditation
Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology TVET College has attained full accreditation as a technical training institution following the official receipt of the TVETA Registration and Licensing Certificate and its 18.7 hectare Land Reservation Order. The institution marked this double milestone during a historic celebration on 28th February 2026 at the Webuye Campus. The event was graced by the MMUST Council, represented by Dr. Kennedy Olung’o, alongside the University Senate and the Bungoma County Government leadership, represented by the local Member of County Assembly (MCA) and administrative officials.

Representing the Chairperson of Council-Dr. Pamela Sitienei, Dr. Kennedy Olung’o, stated that the formal handover of the land provides the essential institutional security for long-term planning and infrastructure sustainability. “This milestone allows the Council to confidently steer investments that will benefit learners, staff, and the community,” noted Dr. Olung’o. He revealed that the University Management Board has already allocated KSh. 30 Million to boost infrastructure and academic resources.
“The University Council is fully committed to supporting the TVET College’s administration and strategic planning. We are also coordinating with KUCCPS to ensure student placement at the Webuye Campus, expanding access to our programmes for learners nationwide,” he added, appreciating the County Government of Bungoma for generously allocating land for the establishment of MMUST TVET College – Webuye Campus.

Reinforcing the Council’s commitment, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Solomon Shibairo confirmed that the land acquisition is the foundation for the structured development of world-class facilities. He assured stakeholders that the University will continue working in close coordination with the Senate to ensure that training at the Webuye TVET College remains strictly aligned with evolving market and industry demands.
“We are prioritizing enhanced budgetary allocations to the College to facilitate modern infrastructure, acquisition of state-of-the-art training equipment, and excellence in academic delivery. We look forward to a deepened partnership with the Bungoma County Government and other stakeholders to develop structured scholarship and fee-assistance programs. This will ensure that needy but deserving students have inclusive access to the high-quality technical education we offer here,” stated Prof. Shibairo.

In his remarks, the Ag. Principal MMUST TVET College, Prof. Stephen Odebero emphasized that technical and vocational training remains the undisputable and most dignified pathway to self-reliance and socio-economic mobility. He noted that the dual milestones of licensing and land acquisition have positioned the College for exponential growth.
“We are poised to expand access, deepen our community engagement, and most importantly, produce a cadre of skilled, competent, and work-ready graduates who will meet industry demands and contribute meaningfully to society,” stated Prof. Odebero.

Reaffirming the College’s commitment to institutional integrity, Prof. Odebero pledged to manage the land responsibly. “We solemnly pledge to manage this precious land responsibly, transparently, and in strict accordance with our approved master plan. We hold this resource in trust for the benefit of the current generation and the many that will come after us,” he added.
With this full accreditation, MMUST TVET College is now officially licensed to offer Diplomas and Certificates in Disaster Management, General Agriculture, Security and Intelligence, Community Health and Development, and Information Technology.
