Division of Planning Research and Innovation

The Division of Planning, Research and Innovation is a strategic arm of the University mandated to provide leadership in institutional planning, research development, innovation management, and resource mobilization. It plays a pivotal role in shaping the University’s long-term growth trajectory by ensuring that all academic, administrative, and development activities are guided by data-driven planning and a strong research and innovation culture.

The Division serves as a central coordination hub that integrates planning, research, and innovation functions across all schools, departments, and research units. Through this integration, it enhances institutional efficiency, promotes accountability, and strengthens the University’s competitiveness in the global higher education and research landscape.

It also facilitates the transformation of research outputs into practical innovations, products, and services that contribute to socio-economic development, while fostering strong linkages between the University, industry, government, and development partners.

The Division of  is headed by a Deputy Vice Chancellor, who has the following roles and responsibilities:

• Overall responsibility for direction, organization and administration of Planning, Research and Innovation programmes
• Initiating, coordinating, implementation and monitoring of the strategic plan.
•  Providing innovative and creative leadership in the areas of planning, research and innovation
•  Coordinating workshops and seminars for outreach programmes on technology transfer
•  Promoting knowledge and skills dissemination to meet the needs of the University, Community and Industry
•  Mobilizing and soliciting financial support for Research and Community Extension programmes
• Advising senate on the status of the development of research, extension and innovation programmes inconformity to national and international standards and legally recognized professional bodies; and
• Creating and maintaining collaboration and linkages locally and internationally for research and innovation programmes
