Speaking during the send-off meeting, the Director Career Services, Prof. Robert Egessa lauded the Project Coordinator, Dr. Evans Oruta for his selfless gesture in looking beyond his own department to secure opportunities for the wider University community.
“Many times when we get an opportunity to collaborate, the focus is individualized or limited to one’s own School. However, Dr. Oruta overlooked the individual interest and concentrated on the holistic benefit of the University,” said Prof. Egessa. He challenged the students to be active in their lectures at King Mihai I and good ambassadors of MMUST.
Addressing the student’s academic learning abroad, Prof. Egessa assured them that the curriculum at King Mihai I will not be a hurdle. “You were competitively selected because you have been progressing positively through our system. You are up to the task,” he noted, reassuring them thatacademic foundation at MMUST has fully prepared them for the curriculum in Romania.
Further, he asked the students to create more linkages for themselves and others.

Reminiscing the roots of the partnership, Dr. Evans Oruta revealed that the opportunity came about in 2023 after MMUST got into a collaborative agreement with the University of Life Sciences King Mihai I. Following successful staff mobility visits involving the School of Arts and Social Sciences (SASS), the program has now expanded to include student exchange. “Our students will immerse themselves in an entire semester of learning. In May, I will be traveling alongside the Director of DIAL, Dr. Umulkher Ali, and the Registrar of Academic Affairs, Prof. Judah Ndiku, to assess their progress and further cement this linkage,” he stated.
