
Commander of the Kenya Army Pays Courtesy Call on DVC Administration and Finance to Discuss Possible Areas of Collaboration
On 5th May, 2025, Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology hosted the Commander of the Kenya Army, Lieutenant General David Kimaiyo Tarus, for discussions on potential areas of collaboration. The Commander, who was accompanied by the National Defence University of Kenya’s Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research, Innovation and Security Studies)-Maj Gen. William Shume, was officially received by MMUST’s DVC (Administration and Finance)-Prof. John Kuria Thuo.

The discussions were attended by security officers, including Brigadier Joel M’Arimi, Maj Joshua Wahome, Maj Alice Indimuli, Sgt. Andrew Mbuya, Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Rose Muthee and IPOA’s Mr. Simeon Sombul. The MMUST team was led by the Dean-School of Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance (SDMHA), Dr. Ferdinand Nabiswa, alongside Rev. Rtd. Sgt. Dr. Elijah Odhiambo.

The University’s commitment to advancing the knowledge and skills of security professionals is clearly demonstrated by the recent signing and implementation of the Collaborative Agreement (CA) between MMUST and the National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K). Such partnerships are expected to not only support MMUST’s development, but also contribute towards enhancing national security.
