- Red Sea University, Somalia.
Total research grant won by the consortium: 719,939 Euros (KES 120,569,704.84)
The proposed programme aims to:
- Create a lifelong learning platform that is accessible to the refugee and migrant population that will be used to build requisite capacities aimed at increasing employability opportunities in Kenya and Somalia.
- Develop an accessible data Centre with adaptive features to cater for all kinds of disabilities and to assist refugees and migrants with special needs and disabilities access vital information.
- Develop an Inclusive Education programme aimed at developing teachers’ skills in inclusive pedagogy
- Strengthen soft skill competencies among Somali refugees in Kenya and IDPs in Somalia to improve their entrepreneurial innovation and uptake of opportunities afforded through technology.
- Promote critical skills and competencies among Somali refugees and other refugees in Kenya and globally for self-reliance.
- Promote teacher practice and use of assistive technologies in refugee and migrant classrooms; integrate 21st century soft skills in supporting all learners from the migrant population.
- Empower refugees, host communities and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) through tertiary education, research and partnerships in refugee camps in Dadaab and Kakuma, Kenya
- Harness the capacity of ICT to improve access, quality, and management of education and training systems among Somali migrants
- Promote the development and use of online content taking into account African and local specificities
- Provide appropriate and sufficient equipment facilities (e.g., connectivity, power) and services
