MMUST RECEIVES A DONATION OF 175 BOTTLES OF HAND SANITIZERS FROM KENMA HOME CARE SERVICES TO BE USED DUURING MMUST’S 16TH GRADUATION CEREMONY.

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology has received 175 bottles of hand sanitizers as a donation from KENMA Home Care Services to be used during the 16th Graduation Ceremony. The donation, which was presented by KENMA’s General Manager, Mr. Peter Muthui was received by the DVC in Charge of Administration and Finance, Prof. Charles Mutai.

“This is a generous gesture by KENMA HomeCare Services that will assist in tomorrow’s 16th Graduation Ceremony. KENMA HomeCare Services has been doing a good job in keeping our University clean. We will continue to work together,” said Prof.Mutai.

The DVC(A&F) was accompanied by MMUST’s Assistant Registrar of Administration in charge of Central Services, Mr. Bernard Ooko. Other members of KENMA HomeCare Services present included the Administrator, Ms. Mercy Oduor and Technician, Mr. Joash Muthui.

KENMA HomeCare Services is also expected to Fumigate key areas in the University once the Graduation Ceremony is over.

MMUST’S SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING AND BUILT ENVIRONMENT LINKS STUDENTS DIRECTLY TO INDUSTRY AS THEY HOST ASSOCIATION OF ENGINEERS

MMUST’s School of Engineering and Built Environment (SEBE) has stepped up efforts to link engineering students directly to the industry early in their training. This was exhibited on 6th August, 2021, when they hosted officials of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK), Western Branch. The Western Kenya Branch is one of the five branches of IEK in the country whose goal is to promote and develop the engineering profession and best practice in Kenya and the world.

MMUST’S SCHOOL OF NURSING TO RECEIVE FUNDING FROM MALTESER INTERNATIONAL FOR SETTING UP STATE OF ART HIGH FIDELITY SIMULATION SKILLS LABAROTORY

In a bid to reinforce training for specialized cadres in the Health Sector such as Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), Community Health Extension Workers, Health Records Information Officers (HRIO)s and other health professions, MMUST’s School of Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedical Sciences (SONMAPS), has set the process of establishing a top-notch High Fidelity Simulated Skills Laboratory in motion.

MMUST HOSTS THE FOURTH INTERNATIONAL BIOPHYSICAL VIRTUAL CONFERENCE AND NETWORKING EVENT

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology recently had the privilege to host the fourth International Biophysical Conference and Networking Event which was held virtually on 6th August, 2021. The conference on the International Trends of Biophysical Education, Research and Innovation aims at bringing together scholars, policy makers and students with a view of critiquing the trends in Africa to spur interest in potential and young scholars of Biophysics. It is in this forum, that the existing gaps and their remedies were identified for the advancement of Biophysics in Africa.

UASU MMUST CHAPTER CHAMPIONS COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT THROUGH TREE PLANTING AT MAHIAKALO PRIMARY SCHOOL, KAKAMEGA COUNTY.

The University Academic Staff Union (UASU) MMUST Chapter on Saturday, 7th August 2021, carried out a massive tree planting exercise at Mahiakalo Primary School in Kakamega County. This was part of a series of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities that the union intends to undertake. The theme of the CSR activity was ‘Jamii Yetu Wajibu Wetu’.  The UASU team included Dr. Bernard Omogo (Secretary General), Dr. Humphrey Agevi (Deputy Secretary General), Dr. Jairus Odawa (Chairman), Dr. Consolata Lusweti (Vice Chairperson), Dr. Angeline Savala (Treasurer), Mr. Philip Amuyunzu (Organizing Secretary) Prof. Samuel Kubasu (Trustee), Mr. Shadrack Opunde (Trustee), Dr. Regina Bwire (Committee member), Dr. Evans Raballa (Committee member), Dr. Joy Kasili (Delegate), Dr. Sabella Kiprono (Delegate) and Dr. Akinyi Onyango (delegate).

STAFF AND STUDENTS TO BENEFIT FROM BLOSSOMING MMUST-INDIANA UNIVERSITY PARTNERSHIP

Staff and students at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, and Indiana University (IU) Bloomington, are set to benefit from the blossoming MMUST-Indiana partnership which began with the visit of two (2) eminent professors, Prof. Henry K. Wakhungu and Prof. Phoebe Wakhungu. The two (2) scholars were at MMUST  on 3rd August, 2021, to recruit prospective graduate students as well as early career staff into IU. The visitors, who were received by the Director, Directorate of International and Academic Linkages, MMUST, Dr. Catherine Aurah, met a number of staff and students to sensitize them regarding opportunities at IU.

MMUST ACADEMIC STAFF UNION (UASU) CHAPTER STEPS UP EFFORTS TO TRANSFORM COMMUNITIES THROUGH COMMUNITY SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY INITIATIVES

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) UASU Chapter has proved that Unions are part and parcel of Universities’ community transformation and development agenda. MMUST’s Academic Staff Union (UASU) on 1st of August 2021, carried out a reproductive health education and mentorship initiative at Umina Mixed Day Secondary School in Siaya County. This was part of the University’s Corporate Social Responsibility endeavour to transform communities around through development activities and projects.
