MMUST SPORTS TEAMS CLINCH TOP POSITIONS AT KENYA UNIVERSITIES’ SPORTS FEDERATION CHAMPIONSHIPS

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology’s sports men and women recently scooted ahead of their opponents in a show of great sportsmanship to clinch top positions at the Kenya Universities Sports Federation (KUSF) Championships. The event attracted over twenty -five (25) Universities who participated at the host grounds in Kibabii University from 18th -21st December 2021.

MMUST MANAGEMENT APPRECIATES ITS STAFF THROUGH A HIGHLY DECORATED THANKSGIVING LUNCHEON TO MARK END YEAR 2021

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) has today, Wednesday, 22nd December, 2021, appreciated its staff for an exemplary service delivery throughout 2021 by engaging them in a well decorated Thanksgiving Luncheon.

The event was graced by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Solomon Shibairo who expressed gratitude to the University staff for the exemplary work they have done in the year 2021 that has seen MMUST make tremendous growth in diverse fields. “I am thankful for the unwavering support accorded to me the entire MMUST community since I took reigns of this University.During my tenure,  I would like to ensure that MMUST becomes the place where everyone desires to work,” stated Prof. Shibairo.  

MMUST HOLDS A WORKSHOP FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS IN A BID TO BETTER THEIR STAY IN THE UNIVERSITY

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) through the Directorate of International Relations and Academic Linkages (DIAL) on Thursday 9th December 2021 held a one-day workshop for International Students to share their experiences on and off the University in a bid to better their stay in the country.  

The workshop was steered by the Director DIAL, Dr. Catherine Aurah who informed students and staff members present about the ‘Friendship Family Program' that she will be rolling out jointly with her team to address challenges of being far from home. 

MMUST JOINS THE REST OF THE WORLD TO COMMEMORATE DISABILITY AWARENESS DAY

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) on Thursday, 16th December 2021 joined the rest of the world in celebrating the International Day of Persons with Disabilities(IDPD) which is observed annually on 3rd December. This was declared in 1992, by the United Nations General Assembly resolution 47/3. The commemoration of this day at MMUST was organized through the AIDS Control, Gender and Disability Mainstreaming Unit (ACGDMU) and took place at the Main Catering Unit(MCU) hall, main campus in Kakamega County.

MMUST DIRECTORATE OF SCIENCE PARK INNOVATION AND INCUBATION CENTER (SPIIC) CONDUCTS BLENDED DISSEMINATION WORKSHOP TO SHOWCASE FINDINGS OF ITS SEVENTEEN (17) CONCEPTS

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology through the Directorate of Science Park Innovation and Incubation Center (SPIIC) held its First Blended Innovation Dissemination Week themed ‘Growing Innovation Capacity Through University Funding 2020/2021’.

The Innovation Dissemination week was aimed at sharing and showcasing the findings of the seventeen (17) concepts which were funded by the University. Out of the seventeen (17) concepts, eight (8) have developed prospective prototypes which the Directorate of SPIIC is working towards their commercialization.

MMUST GRADUATES OVER 4,000 STUDENTS WITH DIVERSE QUALIFICATIONS AND TWO HONORARY AWARDS TO KEY PERSONALITIES DURING ITS 17TH GRADUATION IN A GLAMOROUS CEREMONY

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) on Friday, December 17 graduated over 4,000 graduates from diverse fields. The highly decorated ceremony saw MMUST confer a honorary award to Equity Bank’s Dr. James Mwangi and another to Dr. Mannilal Premchand Chandaria. The blended event was held at the University Graduation Square in the main campus, Kakamega County.

MMUST JOURNALISM AND MASS COMMUNICATION STUDENTS INTERACT DIRECTLY WITH KEY INDUSTRY PLAYERS IN MEDIA FROM THE DEUTSCHE WELLE AKADEMIE ALUMNI (KENYA)

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology’s students of Journalism and Mass Communication (JMC), on 14th December, 2021 shared real time media experiences with a team of media practitioners from the Deutsche Welle Akademie Alumni (KENYA).

The DW team visited MMUST in order to conduct a one on one Discussion Forum with staff and students of Journalism and Mass Communication on ‘Election Reporting and Corruption’ under the theme ‘Corruption in the Media.' The forum was made possible through the coordination of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication led by Mr. Wafula Nyongesa, and in liaison with the University Radio Station, 103.9 MMUST FM.

UASU-MMUST CHAPTER FIRST AGM REVEALS SIGNIFICANT ACHIEVEMENTS SET TO SHAPE THE FUTURE OF ACADEMIC STAFF IN MMUST

The Universities Academic Staff Union (UASU) -Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology Chapter, highlighted its key achievements at its maiden Annual General Meeting (AGM) since the installation of new Union leaders in March 2021, on Tuesday 7th December, 2021.

Speaking during the hybrid meeting at the Union’s new offices in Milimani, Dr. Bernard Omogo, the Secretary General, said that the Union has witnessed growth in membership from two hundred and eighty-two (282) to three hundred and fourteen (314) members since the Union leaders took office. He encouraged more members to subscribe to the Union, affirming that the only current funds stream for the union is the membership subscription.

MMUST ALUMNI ASSOCIATION ADOPTS THE NEW CONSTITUTION AND ELECTORAL LAWS AS AMENDED BY THE UNIVERSITY MANAGEMENT BOARD

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology Alumni Association (MMUSTAA) has adopted the new MMUSTAA constitution and electoral laws that were amended by the University Management Board. The adoption took place during the MMUSTAA two-day workshop held at the Tom Mboya Labour College in Kisumu County on 26th and 27th November 2021. The MMUST alumni workshop was organised by the Directorate of Career Services, headed by Dr. Teresa Okoth.
